屋外雨滴滴雨聲

This quarter I joined a Language and Orientation Tutoring (LOT) Program. A tutor and I meet for one hour every week to chat in English, to improve my language skill. To have more practice, I am going to write part of my weekly blog in English. But because it is both boring and time-consuming to translate my own article, the English and Chinese parts will have few overlapping contents. If you prefer to read Chinese, try Google Translate.

Not much exciting things happened last week, so basically I had a plain week similar to the week before last week. My advisor was not in town last week, and we did not have a group meeting. Together with the fact that there are some unknown problems in the program I should have been running, I feel I was very unproductive... and that's bad. Hopefully things will go smoother this week.

Since last Friday, we've got some "significant" rainfall, so I tried taking our shuttle bus to go to classes, instead of riding my (well, Simon's) bike. Despite the need to check the time schedule, taking the shuttle is quite a good choice. A bad thing about rain is that I cannot go swimming nor playing Frisbee. That still made me a little frustrated.

I finally received my SSN, which makes me under the control of this country. Well, anyway I need a SSN to get paid. A few hours are spent to update all my profiles and accounts, with a hope that I will become securer? :p

我們對於「下雨」這個詞彙的用法跟這裡有很大的差異 大概差了十倍左右
雖然說本來就知道這裡雨下不多 但當看到大家信誓旦旦緊張兮兮在討論周末會下雨的時候
身為專業台北人 總是會預期一場「淅瀝淅瀝 嘩啦嘩啦 雨下來了」的感覺
但這兩天我只覺得有地方在漏水 聽了半天才知道是外面的雨聲
讓我也有點想跟他說一下「加油 好嗎」

這一週我跟室友們很有默契地縮減了吃晚餐的時間 享受著有效率的生活
只可惜做晚餐有效率不表示工作也一樣有效率
感覺這星期完成的事比之前還少...

又到了申請學校的季節
時間一年一年地過 也是夠可怕的
今年物理系要申請出國的還真不少
雖然我很想祝大家都申請上心目中的理想學校
但我也知道這不太實際
只能祝大家一切順利了

話說這個學期已經過完一半了
馬上就是萬聖節 接著是感恩節 再來就期末考 然後學期就結束了
quarter 實在是短到不行
研究才剛開始 又得開始煩惱下個學期的 rotation 了...
